135th Burns Night Celebration
Sunday, January 23, 2011 • 2 pm
Maple River High School AAA Gym

Mapleton's annual Burns Night is a celebration of our local Scottish-American Heritage.

This Scottish-American tradition has a long history in the United States. Mapleton's celebration of the birth of the Scottish poet, Robert Burns, is the longest running one in the state of Minnesota.

The Burns Bonspiel (curling tournament) takes place at the Heather Curling Club during the week and is concluded on Saturday before the big night. Bagpipe music and Highland dancing set the stage for an evening of Burns' poetry, awards for curling champions and the crowning of Miss Bonnie Lass.

This Years Event will include MC Jon Stevens, the The Minnesota Police Pipe Band, ;
Mona Will and Kristin Pierson will sing Scottish songs; and the  Mapleton Kiltie Dancers will perform. Crowing of Miss Bonnie Lass of 2011 will be crowned and Burns Bonspiel and All American Event winners will be awarded trophies.

There will be lunch, fellowship and reminscing in the dining hall following the program.

Ticket prices are $12 for reserved, $10 for general admission and $5 for students K-12.
Tickets may be purchased at Mapleton Drug, Plaid Piper
and at the door the afternoon of the program.
