Canoeing
In just the southern part of the county alone, there are numerous rivers designated as canoe routes: Blue Earth, Cobb, LeSueur and Watonwan rivers. All have many canoe access points. One place, the Watonwan Stop to the west and north of Mapleton, is a seven-acre park featuring a canoe and small boat landing, parking lot and picnic shelter.
City Parks
There are several parks located through out the city of Mapleton. Heritage Park is the largest park in Mapleton. It has tennis courts, baseball fields, restrooms, playground, picnic tables and shelter, grills, and a walking course. The park is located by the water tower on Central Avenue. The Maple River Relay for Life is held at this park in the Spring. The Library is located behind the public library and across from Casey's. This park includes swings and a playground. The Veteran's Memorial Park is small and located on Main Street. This park is dedicated to those who have served in the armed forces.
Daly Park
Daly Park on Lura Lake is just 6 miles from the city of Mapleton. This park offers a wide range of services ranging from boat entries to full hookups camp sites. Daly Park is a scenic park that allows RVs and tents all summer long. It has nice facilities including electrical hookups, bathhouse, drinking water, dump station, horseshoe pits, picnic tables, fire rings or grills, picnic shelters, playground, tennis and volleyball courts, and resident caretakers. Snowmobiling
Some of the locals here are members of the Amboy Area Snowbirds snowmobile club which maintains the trail system in the areas of Mapleton, Amboy, Minnesota Lake, Vernon Center, and Winnebago. Trail maybe download here or picked up at the Mapleton Muni, Maple Mart, Casey's, and the Windmill.
Theater
The Maple River High School offers a collection of talented student who put on plays for the community. The have a musical production in the fall and a theatrical production in the spring. Other area schools also offer theater productions.
Youth Center
"The Well" located near Casey's at 106 Main Street NE welcomes any youth from 4th to 12th grade. It is open Tuesday through Friday from 3:15 PM to 5:15 PM with Bible studies on Wednesdays from 5 to 6 PM. The Well offers several activities the include peer study help and life skills classes in addition to video and board games, pool table, air hockey, foosball, and computers.
